A quick note

CalcMyPay provides free educational tools, not personalised financial advice. We're not able to give individual financial, tax or legal advice by email. For advice specific to your situation, please consult a registered financial adviser or tax practitioner.

Frequently asked questions before you reach out

A few quick answers that might save you a message, though we are always happy to hear from you regardless.

Is CalcMyPay affiliated with SARS or the government?

No. CalcMyPay is an independent platform. We build our calculators using publicly available SARS tax tables and verify our figures carefully each tax year, but we are not affiliated with SARS, the Department of Employment and Labour, or any government body. For official matters — filing returns, UIF claims, tax disputes — always use the official government channels directly.

Can you help me with my personal tax return or specific financial situation?

Our tools are built to give you accurate estimates and general guidance, but we are not able to provide personalised financial, tax or legal advice through this contact channel. If your situation is complex — a tax dispute, a detailed investment decision, a legal question about debt — a registered financial adviser, tax practitioner or attorney is the right resource, as they can account for your complete individual circumstances in a way a general calculator cannot.

How quickly will I hear back?

We aim to respond to every message within a few business days. If you have reported something urgent — like a calculator producing a clearly incorrect result — we prioritise those messages to get the fix out as quickly as possible.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate are the calculators?

Every tax calculation on CalcMyPay is built directly from the official SARS 2027 tax year brackets, rebates and thresholds. We verify these figures against SARS publications and update them whenever tax legislation changes. That said, every calculator provides an estimate for planning purposes — your actual tax position can be affected by specific circumstances a general calculator cannot capture, so always confirm significant financial decisions with a registered tax practitioner or financial adviser.

Is my financial information stored when I use a calculator?

No. Every calculation happens entirely within your own browser — the numbers you enter are never transmitted to our servers, stored, or seen by anyone. You can use every tool on CalcMyPay without creating an account or providing any personal information beyond what you choose to type into a calculator.

Can I suggest a new calculator or tool?

Yes, and we genuinely welcome these suggestions. CalcMyPay grows based on what South Africans actually need to plan their finances, and tool requests directly shape our development priorities. Email us with what you are looking for and why, and we will consider it for a future addition.

I found an error in a calculation — what should I do?

Please tell us immediately with as much detail as possible — which calculator, what inputs you used, and what you believe the correct output should be. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate and correct any genuine errors as quickly as possible.

Do you offer personalised financial advice?

No. CalcMyPay provides free educational tools and general information to help you understand your own finances, but we are not a registered financial advisory service and cannot provide advice tailored to your specific situation. For personalised guidance, please consult a registered financial adviser or tax practitioner.

Common questions before you reach out

Many questions we receive are already answered directly on the site — checking here first often gets you a faster answer than waiting for a reply.

  • "Are your tax figures up to date?" — Yes, all calculators use the current SARS tax year figures, verified against official SARS publications. We review and update these whenever SARS announces changes.
  • "Can I get personalised financial advice?" — Not through this site directly. We provide free educational tools, not one-on-one financial advice. For guidance specific to your situation, a registered financial adviser or tax practitioner is the right resource.
  • "I found what looks like an error in a calculation" — Please email us the specific calculator, the numbers you entered, and what result you expected. This is the fastest way for us to investigate and correct any genuine issue.
  • "Do you offer this as an app, or an API?" — Not currently, though it is something we consider based on demand. Let us know if this would be useful to you.

Response times

We aim to respond to genuine queries within a few business days. Given the volume of messages, we are not always able to respond to every message individually, but every email is read.
