At CalcMyPay ("we", "us", "our"), your privacy matters. This policy explains what information we collect, how it is used, and your rights. By using calcmypay.co.za (the "Site"), you agree to this policy.

The short version

Our calculators and tools run entirely in your browser. The financial figures you enter — your salary, expenses, debt, savings and so on — are never sent to our servers and are never stored by us. When you close or refresh the page, that data is gone.

Information we collect

Information you enter into calculators: This is processed locally on your device to show your results. We do not transmit, save, or have any access to these numbers.

Automatically collected information: Like most websites, we may collect standard analytics such as your approximate location (country/region), browser type, device type, pages visited and time on site. This is aggregated and anonymous, used only to understand how the Site is used and improve it.

Cookies: We use cookies to support analytics and advertising. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as well.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this Site.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You can also opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info.

Third-party services

We may use third-party services including Google Analytics and Google AdSense. These providers have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data. We do not control and are not responsible for their practices.

Data security

Because your financial inputs never leave your device, there is no financial data on our servers to be compromised. For the limited analytics data we do collect, we take reasonable measures to protect it.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct or object to its processing. As we collect minimal personal data, these mostly relate to analytics and advertising cookies, which you control through your browser and the opt-out links above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.

Data retention

Because financial figures you enter into our calculators are processed entirely in your browser and never transmitted to our servers, there is no retention period to speak of for that information — it exists only for the duration of your session and disappears when you close or refresh the page. For the limited analytics data we do collect (aggregated, anonymous usage patterns), we retain this only as long as necessary to understand site usage trends, typically no longer than 26 months, consistent with standard web analytics practices.

International data transfers

Where we use third-party services such as Google Analytics or Google AdSense, these providers may process data outside South Africa, including in the United States and European Union. These providers maintain their own compliance frameworks for international data transfers, including standard contractual clauses where applicable. We select providers who maintain appropriate safeguards for any data processed on our behalf.

Your specific rights under POPIA

South Africa\'s Protection of Personal Information Act gives you the right to: request access to any personal information we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate information; object to processing of your information for direct marketing purposes; and lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been infringed. Given that we collect minimal personal information — primarily anonymous analytics rather than identifiable data — these requests will typically relate to cookie and browser-level data rather than a personal profile.
